Preview: Aaron Nola takes the hill, Phillies look to capitalize on Thursday night’s win

The Phillies face the Padres tonight in Game 2 of a 4-game set, looking to capitalize on an offensive-driven 6-2 win on last night. Phils ace Aaron Nola (4-4, 3.11 ERA) gets the ball, facing off against MacKenzie Gore (4-3, 3.64 ERA).

The Fightins got back in the win column last night, after homers from Kyle Schwarber and JT Realmuto, in addition to a Ranger Suarez masterclass powered the Phillies to a 6-2 win. The team now sits at 37-34 on the year, with three more games to go out in San Diego, before returning home for a key series against the Atlanta Braves.

Kyle Schwarber’s home run last night made it his 20th on the season, leading the team by five. It was good to see JT Realmuto finally get a meaningful hit, poking a line-drive homer out to right-center, his first since the end of May.

Aaron Nola has been the best starting pitcher on the roster this season, and he’s going to continue to do that tonight. I’m taking the Phillies to win 6-3 (-1.5).
