Preview: Zach Eflin gets the ball, Phillies look to get back in the win column at 10:10
The Phillies take the field for some late-night baseball for the third day in a row, squaring off against the Padres tonight at 10:10 EST. Zach Eflin (2-5, 4.43 ERA) gets the ball for the Phils, going up against Blake Snell (0-4, 5.46 ERA).
The Phils fell to San Diego by a final score of 1-0, after the bats went silent in an Aaron Nola gem. Aaron’s brother Austin had the only RBI of the night a poke single to rightfield that would score Eric Hosmer in the bottom of the 6th.
The Phillies offense combined for 9 strikeouts, went 0-8 with RISP and didn’t receive a hit from their 1,3,4, and 5 hitters all night. The team had just five total hits, four of them coming from Bohm and Vierling.
I’m fully expecting tonight’s game to be high scoring. Blake Snell has allowed 10 earned runs in his last three starts, and Zach Eflin has been a struggle on the road.

Zach Eflin vs Blake Snell
Zach Eflin takes the hill for the Phillies, looking to figure out his 2022 road woes. Eflin has been bad away from Citizens Bank Park, holding a 7.96 ERA with an 0-4 record and just 20 Ks. Eflin was pulled from his last start but after a bullpen this week, Thomson confirmed that Eflin is good to go. He’ll be going up against Blake Snell, who holds an 0-2 record with a 5.28 ERA at home with just 18 strikeouts.
