Report: Sixers exercise team option on reserve guard for 2022-23 season

After conflicting reports over the last few weeks, the Sixers officially picked up Shake Milton‘s team option.
This decision seemed evident as it will only cost the Sixers under $2 million, a reasonable price considering Milton is a semi-reliable bench piece.
Milton has had a tumultuous tenure with the Sixers. The past year was his worst year statistically, partially due to COVID-19 and a nagging back injury.
With the addition of De’Anthony Melton, it’s safe to assume Shake will have a lesser role if he isn’t traded. He’s gotten better playing on the ball, but his off-ball numbers have regressed due to not having a clear role. His spot-up numbers in the NBA are actually better with more volume.

If Milton can get back to the spot-up efficiency and volume he had in 2019, he’ll be a great complement to Melton off the bench. The only confusing part will be pronouncing the two’s last names correctly. I can’t imagine sports talk radio will have an easy time with that one.
