Phillies Roster Moves: Mercado DFA’d to make room for Bailey Falter

With Zach Eflin on the IL, Bailey Falter is back up with the Philadelphia Phillies and will start tonight, opening up a weekend series against the St. Louis Cardinals and Miles Mikolas.
In a corresponding move, outfielder Oscar Mercado was been designated for assignment.
Last week, the Phillies claimed Oscar Mercado off waivers from the Cleveland Guardians in light of losing Bryce Harper with a broken thumb.
Oscar Mercado had spent four years in the major leagues, all with the Cleveland Guardians., totaling 272 games with the team. He hit .235/.287/.388, good for a .604 OPS with 26 HR, 95 RBI, and 200 hits.
As for Bailey Falter, he’s appeared in seven games for the Phillies this season, and started three games. He’s 0-2 on the year with a 4.50 ERA in 20 innings pitched.
Let’s just hope the Phillies’ bats will be on full display tonight like they were in the series finale against the Atlanta Braves yesterday when they hit five home runs in route to a 14-4 victory.
