Rubber Match: Phillies square off against the Braves for the series win, Kyle Gibson on the bump at 12:35

The Phillies take the field today at 12:35 EST, looking for a massive series win against the division rival Atlanta Braves. Kyle Gibson (5-4, 4.69 ERA) gets the ball for the Fightins, going up against Charlie Morton (5-4, 4.20 ERA) for Atlanta.

Tuesday night’s loss was a tough one, as the Phillies just couldn’t get anything going early on. Alec Bohm had the only two hits through the first 5 innings, and Aaron Nola didn’t have his stuff, allowing five earned runs and seven hits and 6 innings.

The Phillies just can’t get anything to click since coming back from the All-Star Break, now losers to 4 of 5 since returning from vacation. The offense has to get going early if they want any chance of winning, something that hasn’t been happening so far. The top of the lineup needs to get out of their slump and give some support to the late-order bats (I never thought I’d be saying that, but here we are).
