Stephen Starr’s new restaurant at the Wells Fargo Center will now be called “Adrian”

The club level restaurant at the Wells Fargo Center is getting a new name.

The Wells Fargo Center is undergoing a $350 million makeover and the restaurant on the club level formally known as The Grille will now be called “Adrian” and will be designed like an upscale tavern and serve American cuisine

Here’s a few renderings of what Arian will look like when it debuts this fall

It’s no secret that the Wells Fargo Center was in desperate need of a facelift and it’s great to see some progress being made. The Club Level will be completely transformed with Adrian, premium seating and a brand new lobby with an open-floor layout, exclusive retail, and themed whiskey and tequila bars.

PHILADELPHIA (July 25, 2022) –Wells Fargo CenterAramark Sports + Entertainment, and Starr Restaurants, led by entrepreneur and James Beard award-winning restaurateur Stephen Starr, today revealed more details about the new Club Level restaurant set to debut at Wells Fargo Center this fall, which will be named Adrian.

Adrian, which will replace The Grille at the arena, will serve a full menu of American-style cuisine to highlight the unique in-venue dining experience. Diners can start with soups, salads and appetizers including crab cakes and French onion soup. Offering a variety of perfectly charred steaks, chops, sandwiches, burgers and incredibly satisfying sides, the menu at Adrian will provide comforting dishes that one would expect from their favorite neighborhood tavern – only better. For those who crave something other than meat, the menu includes an expansive selection of vegetarian and seafood options including raw bar, Scottish salmon, whole roasted celery root and whole branzino. And, as any good meal should end with sweets, sundaes and cakes will be served. Adrian aims to provide fans with their favorite foods while they watch their favorite teams.

Designed by Rockwell Group, the restaurant’s design will embrace the history of Philadelphia’s sports teams with traditional accents and lighting reminiscent of an upscale tavern. With floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the iconic Philadelphia skyline, the dining space will seat approximately 300 fans.

If there’s one thing marketing people love in Philadelphia, it’s to reuse the same cliches that have been around this city for decades. I think it’s safe to say that Adrian is an ode to Rocky and if you’ve been reading or following me on Twitter already, you already know how I feel about the overly used Rocky references, the statue outside the Art Museum, and the fact that people only think Rocky movies are good because they are set in Philadelphia. So from there, you probably know how I feel about naming a restaurant inside the Wells Fargo Center, owned by Comcast, with yet another reference to Rocky.

The restaurant itself looks to be a major upgrade from The Grille, so we’ll just leave it at that.
