Preview: Phillies square off against the Atlanta Braves tonight at 7:20 EST

The Philadelphia Phillies will be making a quick stop in Atlanta for a two-game series against the Braves.
The Fightins enter tonight off a four-game sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates which included two extra-innings wins. They are 55-47 on the year and sit 6.5 games behind the Braves in second place in the NL East, 10 behind the New York Mets in first place. The Phillies will kick off August in the third and final Wild Card spot with a game advantage over the Cardinals.

Tonight’s Pitching Matchup
Tonight, the Phils will face Braves’ rookie Spencer Strider. The Phillies took two out of three from the Braves at Citizens Bank Park but lost 6-3 during the Strider vs Nola matchup. Strider threw six innings, allowing just three hits, one earned run, and a walk while striking out six. For the Phillies, we have a bullpen game in the works tonight with Nick Nelson getting the start. Nelson has been pretty solid over the last month, throwing just over 11 innings of two-run ball.
Following Nelson, we’ll see how the Phillies manage the middle innings before getting to their elite bullpen arms on the backend. Yes, I called the Phillies bullpen elite and that’s exactly what they’ve been over the past few months. Seranthony Dominguez, Brad Hand, and Connor Brogdon all have ERAs below 2.05 and Corey Knebel (2.59 ERA) will enter August fresh off 10.2 scoreless innings of two-hit ball in July.

Tonight’s pitching matchup isn’t in our favor, but you never know with the bullpen games. Phils ML has good value. Take it, why not.
