The converted tight end was originally drafted by the Eagles in 2014, serving as their No. 1 pass-catcher for multiple seasons. During his first three years in Philadelphia, Matthews caught 225 passes for 2,673 yards and 19 TDs. He returned to the Eagles in 2018, appearing in 14 games and catching a touchdown from Nick Foles in the Divisional Round of the postseason.
Matthews later added 30 pounds to his frame and made the switch to tight end, landing with the 49ers. At 30 years old, Matthews has a lengthy rehab ahead of him if he wants to return to the game.
Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery.
