The writing has been on the wall for some time now, with the former second-round pick catching just 16 passes for 290 yards since entering the league. JJAW missed practice yesterday with a designation of “not injury related,” so it was speculated that a move was looming.
Failing to come remotely close to expectations coming out of Stanford, JJAW transitioned from wide receiver to tight end with the hopes of reviving his career, but no headway was made in training camp.
In exchange for Arcega-Whiteside, the Eagles received DB Ugo Amadi, whom the Seahawks planned on waiving. Amadi, a former 4th-round pick, has experience at both safety and nickel cornerback and is built like a hybrid player who can play in the box. The 25-year-old started in seven games for Seattle last season, recording 54 tackles, one INT and one forced fumble.
Both players were poised to be released during the first wave of roster cuts and the teams essentially swapped reclamation projects. As a result, JJAW now has to stare at DK Metcalf, the receiver infamously taken after him, every day in the locker room.
RIP to my JJAW anytime TD tickets.
