Kevin Durant Watch: Sixers expressing interest?

With NBA training camps starting about a month from now, we have some updates on the Kevin Durant saga. As you can imagine, many teams have expressed interest in the future Hall of Famer, including the Sixers.
According to Shams Charania of TheAthletic, the Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors, and Miami Heat remain the most serious threats to Land Durant due to their trade pieces. He also mentioned that the 76ers expressed interest in Durant as well as the Bucks and Nuggets.
Where do the Sixers stand?
Unfortunately, for the 76ers sake, it doesn’t sound like they are anywhere near a deal. With that said, it has been made known that Durant views Philadelphia as a desired landing spot. After the fiasco in Brooklyn, he has repaired his relationship with former teammate James Harden, and it has been apparent the two have been hanging out throughout the summer. The two were spotted working out together in Barcelona and hanging out in London.
The biggest thing holding the Sixers back in this deal has been draft compensation and the reluctance to include Maxey in these trades, which is fair because all of the other teams involved don’t want to include their young stars either. The Sixers can’t trade a first-round pick until 2029. So, as much as Durant may want Philadelphia, it is very unlikely now.
The founder of The Ringer, Bill Simmons discussed the KD trade rumors on his podcast, where he touched on the Philadelphia perspective.
“KD and (James) Harden, this is what I heard, they don’t talk after the trade. They basically go radio silent on each other. They run into each other. They hang out all weekend. And by the end of the weekend, KD is sniffing around on Philly. And there’s a whole Philly thing that happens for three days where it’s like basically (Tobias) Harris and Tyrese Maxey and whatever pick and it’s just it’s not even close.”

I’d imagine many Sixers fans are hesitant to include Maxey in these trade talks, which is understandable; he has quickly become a fan-favorite player here in Philadelphia.
