The Phillies combined for 15 hits and Rhys Hoskins had 3 RBI’s in a 7-5 win, the third straight over the lousy Reds.
Phillies (69-55) Beat Reds (48-74)
- Winning Pitcher: Cristopher Sanchez (2-1, 3.94)
- Losing Pitcher: TJ Zeuch (0-3, 15.19)
- Save: David Robertson (18, 2.16)
For the third night in a row the Phils managed to get a win over a lousy Reds team. That’s exciting, yet expected for a team that has a better than 80% chance of making the playoffs and has generally beaten up on bad teams this season.
Once again the biggest news of the night was coming out of Allentown where Bryce Harper was in his second game of his rehab appearance. Last night he had two monster home runs and added two walks when he didn’t like the quality of the pitches.
Tonight he was 3-5 and hit the walk off RBI single to life the Iron Pigs over the Gwinnett Stripers. Suck it Braves! If everything goes according to plan, Harper is expected to return next Monday against the Arizona D’Backs.
Despite the Phillies scoring 7 runs the offense wasn’t exactly efficient tonight. The Phillies were just 6-16 with runners in scoring position which allowed the dreadful Reds to hang in the game.
Rhys Hoskins had 3 RBI albeit on two soft ground balls and a walk. Not exactly the normal night for the slugging first basemen but i’m sure he wont complain. JT Realmuto had a solo home run in the 3rd inning, his 14th this season and Jean Segura notched 3 hits.
Nick Castellanos had two hits to extend his hitting streak to 14 games. Nick is hitting .367 in that stretch and over the last 30 days he has been the Phillies most productive hitter slashing .339/.374/.505, with 4 HRs, 13 RBIs, and an OPS of .879.
With the win the Phillies moved 2 full games ahead of the San Diego Padres for the 2nd wild card spot in the National League.

Alejo Lopez knocks an RBI double to right field in the 8th inning to cut the Phils lead down to 2 runs.
