Bailey Falter gives a positive update after leaving last night’s game with a groin injury

The Phillies got a massive 18-2 win last night to avoid being swept by the Diamondbacks, as Bailey Falter threw one of the best outings of his major league career.
Bailey Falter was cruising into the 7th inning, holding just under 70 pitches as he walked out for the 7th. Falter recorded one out and suddenly exited the game, as Rob Thomson and trainer Aaron Hoback were out on the mound at the time.
The Phillies lefty received treatment for his groin immediately after he was pulled from the game, and he said he feels “much better”. Falter said he’ll be ready for his next outing and bullpen.
Bailey Falter has been huge for the Phillies over the last month, being an everyday 5th starter when the team is in need of an arm, or now, to fill Zack Wheeler’s spot in the rotation until he returns. The Phillies have won four starts from Bailey in a row and 7 out of their last 8. Falter threw 18.1 innings in August, allowing just five earned runs while striking out 15. He’s down to a 4.08 ERA on the year with a 1.19 WHIP.
Falter doesn’t have an easy job, as he’s the guy who goes up and down from the minors. A true professional perfects his craft no matter where he is, and that’s exactly what Falter has been doing between Lehigh Valley and the Majors throughout the 2022 season. With how he’s been pitching as of recent, Bailey Falter is slowly inching his way into the 5th spot of the Phillies rotation for the start of next year, with Kyle Gibson, Zach Eflin, and Noah Syndergaard all off the books following the end of this season.
