Eagles CB Darius Slay reveals his Top-5 wide receivers in the NFL

Darius Slay has been around the block in the NFL. He’s one of the best and most experienced corners currently playing in the league. So when he drops a WR ranking, we have to listen.
The Eagles CB recently appeared on “The Richard Sherman Podcast” to speak with the former All-Pro corner about all things NFL. Among other things, the two got into a discussion about the best wideouts in the league.
Richard Sherman asks Darius Slay to name his top-five WRs in the NFL right now

Darius Slay’s top-five WRs:
- Davante Adams
- Justin Jefferson (who Slay will face this upcoming Monday night)
- Tyreek Hill
- Stefon Diggs
- Ja’Marr Chase
“I like guys after the catch,” Slay tells Sherman. “They get real active.”
Obviously, every top-five list is subjective and anyone could nitpick Slay’s list here and there. Sherman didn’t hesitate to point out that last season’s receiving yardage leader Cooper Kupp was nowhere to be found.
“I ain’t never gonna see Coop like that,” Slay said. “Coop don’t lineup at X. He competes, he’s great after the catch. I’m not gonna discredit his game, but if you line him up at X for 60 reps, I don’t know if he’s getting 1,800 yards. “
A little Cooper Kupp shade? I’m here for it.
Darius Slay isn’t the only NFL corner who’s left Kupp off their WR rankings recently. The walking toaster himself, Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs also didn’t include Kupp on his top-five WRs list when he appeared on the “IAMATHLETE” show in early August.
Aside from the omission of Kupp, it’s hard to argue with any of the wideouts Slay listed. Maybe by season’s end, Philly’s own AJ Brown will crack Slay’s top-five. After his 155-yard outing in Week 1, it wouldn’t be that far fetched.
