Phillies can’t solve Braves pitching in 6-3 loss

The Phillies were held to just three hits in a 6-3 loss to the Braves on Saturday afternoon.
Braves (94-58) Beat Phillies (83-68)
- Winning Pitcher:Â Kyle Wright (20-5, 3.18)
- Losing Pitcher: Bailey Falter (5-4, 4.21)
- Save:
The Phillies were held hitless into the 6th inning by Braves starter Kyle Wright, who picked up the victory to become the first player in baseball this season to reach 20 wins. Wright tossed 5.1 strong innings before allowing a double to Rhys Hoskins and then a two-run homer to Bryce Harper. Nick Maton added a third Phillies run in the 7th inning with a sacrifice-fly that cut the Braves lead to 6-3.
Unfortunately, the Phillies would not be able to muster a single hit in the final two innings against the Braves potent back-end of the bullpen consisting of AJ Minter and Kenley Jansen.
Bailey Falter had his worst start in recent memory and allowed more than 3 earned runs for the first time since a July 24th loss to the Chicago Cubs. Falter allowed 6 runs in total before being lifted in the 4th inning for reliever Andrew Bellatti.
The Phillies bullpen combined for 5.1 innings of scoreless relief while limiting the Braves to just 4 total hits. Even though the Phillies couldn’t cash in, kudos to them for giving the team a chance to stage a comeback.
With the loss the Phillies magic number remains at 9.
Tomorrow will be the last game of the 2022 regular season at Citizens Bank Park as the Phils end the season with 9-straight road games. The Phillies are 47-33 in front of the home fans and it sure would be sweet to pick up #48 and take the 4-game series against the Braves.
Vaughn Grissom gives the Braves an early lead with an RBI single back up the middle.

William Contreras doubles the Braves lead with a solo-shot off Bailey Falter in the 3rd inning.
