MVP Race: Jalen Hurts passes Patrick Mahomes following stellar Week 3 performance

Led by a dominant defensive effort and a career day from DeVonta Smith, the Eagles made easy work of the Washington Commanders to move to 3-0 on the year.
Jalen Hurts turned in another tremendous outing, throwing for 340 yards, 3 TDs, and a 123.5 passer rating. When Hurts had these performances last season, it felt like a flash in the plan. It’s beginning to feel like the standard in 2022.
Heading into yesterday’s game, Hurts trailed Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes as the favorite for NFL MVP. As of Monday morning, the 24-year-old has passed Mahomes and currently has the second-highest odds to take home the award:

Speculation on these awards is obviously premature as we’re just three weeks into the season. Regardless, the improvement in Hurts thus far is palpable. Should his play remain consistent, it’ll be tough to argue against Hurts as the most valuable player in 2022.
