Schedule Update: MLB, Phillies expected to switch up weekend slate due to Hurricane Ian hitting the Northeast

Quick schedule update for the Philadelphia Phillies ahead of their series finale against the Chicago Cubs at 2:20PM today.
Following today’s game, the Fightins will travel to Washington D.C. to face the Nationals in a four-game series. Saturday was initially scheduled for a doubleheader, but due to Hurricane Ian ripping through Florida and making it’s way up the East Coast, the MLB is expected to move one of the games on Saturday to tomorrow to avoid the bad weather in South Philadelphia this weekend.
Bailey Falter and Noah Syndergaard will take the mound for the Phillies in what will be two crucial games for the Phillies over the final eight games of the 2022 regular season.
The Phillies lost their fourth straight game last night against the Chicago Cubs 4-2. They are now losers of seven out of their last 10 games, with just eight games remaining in the 2022 regular season.
The Brewers escaped with a win last night against the St. Louis Cardinals, trimming Philadelphia’s lead for the third and final NL Wild Card spot to just a half-game. Luckily, the Phillies own the tiebreaker over the Brewers, which gives them a bit more padding over the final week of the season.
NL Wild Card Standings

While the impending bad weather in the northeast is definitely something to keep an eye on, the Phillies have a crucial game this afternoon against the Cubs. Ranger Suarez will take the mound for the Fightins against Javier Assad looking to salvage the three game series in Chicago.
