Eagles vs. Cowboys: QB Dak Prescott is pushing to return in Week 6; scheduled to begin throwing on Wednesday

It’s Dallas Week here in Philly. The 5-0 Eagles are set to take on the 4-1 Cowboys at The Linc this upcoming Sunday night.
There will be no shortage of storylines heading into this NFC East contest, but there’s no doubt the biggest narrative will be the availability of Cowboys QB Dak Prescott. Dallas’ starting quarterback hasn’t suited up since he injured his thumb in the team’s season opener against Tampa Bay on September 12.
Despite missing their franchise QB, Dallas has gone undefeated in Dak’s absence, notching wins over the Bengals and Rams during the run. Although there’s been some chatter of a potential quarterback controversy between Prescott and his backup Cooper Rush, owner Jerry Jones has been quick to squash it.
This came after Jones told reporters in September that he hopes Rush plays well enough to warrant a controversy at the quarterback position.
When making his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday, Jones hinted at a possible return for Dak when his team takes on the Eagles this week.
Jerry Jones on Dak’s potential availability against the Eagles
“Well, let’s just put it like this: He’s got to spin the ball. He’s got to really spin the ball,” Jones said. “Can he zip the ball out there and make the throw? We’ll start working on that Wednesday real hard. He’s certainly doing the kinds of things medically that you want to do. That is the indication. The X-rays, all of that, have [shown] tremendous improvement. But can he spin the ball?”
Head coach Mike McCarthy has said that Prescott will need a full week of practice before suiting up for a game. Dak himself has indicated that he’s close to returning to the practice field. When speaking with reporters after Dallas’ 22-10 victory over the Rams in Week 5, Dallas’ signal caller said he’s “day to day” and that “there’s a lot of growth right now.”
Whether Dak suits up for this NFC East matchup is still up in the air. Once the Wednesday injury report rolls around, we’ll get a clearer picture on his viability for Sunday night.
