Sixers crack Top 5 of NBA’s final Power Rankings before Opening Night

After a long offseason, NBA basketball is finally back. The regular season tips off tonight as the Sixers take on the Boston Celtics in a primetime matchup on ESPN.
Before the action gets underway, the people at Bleacher Report decided to put out their first power ranking of the season. The Sixers landed in the fifth spot, trailing the Denver Nuggets, Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, and Golden State Warriors.
His ascension makes Tobias Harris one of the league’s best fourth options. And the additions of De’Anthony Melton and P.J. Tucker should help too.
With the possible exception of the partial year Jimmy Butler was in Philly, this is probably the best team Embiid’s ever had.
Following their impressive offseason, it is not shocking to see the Sixers near the top of the list. Along with a big four of Joel Embiid, James Harden, Tyrese Maxey, and Tobias Harris, Philly has one of the deepest supporting casts in the league.
Should the Sixers have been ranked higher in the power rankings?
Overall, it’s tough to argue with most of the teams ahead of the Sixers. Golden State and Boston are fresh off making the finals, while Milwaukee is a dominant force when fully healthy. That being said, there is one questionable selection ahead of them that is worth debate.

There is no denying the Denver Nuggets will be a top team in the West this season, but there are a lot of question marks. Nikola Jokic is fresh off back-to-back MVP seasons, but his running mates haven’t played in nearly two years. Since there is no telling how Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. will look, it’s tough to give them a top-four spot in the power rankings.
