Philadelphia Union’s Andre Blake rings bell before first 76ers win of 2022 season

Andre Blake, the star goalkeeper for the Philadelphia Union was honored by the 76ers Monday night at the Wells Fargo Center as the ceremonial bell ringer.
Following the disappointing 0-3 start to the season, the Sixers were in desperate need of a win for the faithful fans of Philadelphia that were actually paying attention to NBA basketball in October. Luckily 2022 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Andre Blake was there to provide it.
Watch: Andre Blake – 76ers Bell Ringer
The Philadelphia Union, a team that unlike the 76ers has gotten out of the second round of the playoffs not just once but two years in a row, will be facing off against the NYC FC at 8:00 PM on Sunday October 30th in the MLS Eastern Conference final.
Andre Blake was key in leading the Union to their second consecutive conference finals appearance with his stellar shut-out performance against Cincinnati FC. The Union won that game 1-0.
Unfortunately, Andre Blake did NOT suit up and play for the 76ers last night although I’m sure Doc Rivers could have used some help with his perimeter defense.
One thing that can’t be argued is that it was way cooler than when they had team owner Josh Harris and outgoing owner Michael Rubin of Fanatics ring the bell for their home opener. Two successful businessmen having a pleasant time just isn’t that exciting.
Philadelphia as a whole, has been buzzing with their five major sports team. As we know, the Phillies are headed to the World Series, the Eagles are undefeated, and the Flyers are off to a surprising start to the NHL season.
Jason Kelce provided the Phillies with a much needed spark over the weekend by chugging a beer with the Phillie Phanatic on Friday night at Citizens Bank Park and now, Andre Blake rang in the first 76ers win of the 2022-23 season.
That’s what you expect when we are in the midst of a Philly Sports Renaissance.
