Jalen Hurts confirms his Phillies fandom despite being born and raised in Houston

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts has officially declared his Phillies fandom ahead of their World Series matchup with his hometown Houston Astros.
For those of you who have managed to stay away from social media recently, first of all, good for you. Social media is a hellscape and my addiction to it is reaching irredeemable heights. Secondly, you may have missed this picture of Jalen Hurts circulating the Twitter timelines.
Jalen Hurts rocking Houston Astros gear
For context, this photo was taken during a Hurts press conference ahead of his first career start against New Orleans back in 2020. It’s not like it was taken this week right after the Phils punched their ticket to the World Series, like some on social media seem to believe.
Despite being born and raised in Houston and growing up an Astros fan, Hurts clarified his fandom heading into this year’s World Series.
“I’m Houston born and raised. I love my city, it’s my hometown. But my home now is Philly and I love this city too. That’s how I deal with it.”
And there it is.
For any Astros fan who tried to use that outdated picture of Hurts against us, jokes on you.
There’s something about the Philadelphia sports fandom that’s just contagious. Once players come to this city, they get infected with it. Jalen Hurts is no different.
Side Note: Don’t joke about the Hurts in Houston gear with Barstool Philly.
For whatever reason, they can’t seem to get Drew Smith out of their heads.
