JT Realmuto wins 2nd-career Gold Glove

Phillies catcher JT Realmuto has won the 2022 Gold Glove Award, beating out Travis d’Arnaud and Tomas Nido.
This is just the second time JT has won this award, with the first time being in 2019, his first season with the Phillies.

JT Realmuto had one of the best post-all-star runs I’ve seen. He struggled to start his season but had his best month of the season in July, slashing .358/.423/.642 in 67 ABs with 24 hits, 5 HRs, and 17 RBIs. Realmuto finished the year .276/.342/.478 with 22 HRs and 84 RBIs.

Defense wins you the gold glove award, and JT Realmuto is called the “Best Catcher in Baseball” for that reason. Realmuto finished the regular season with a .993 fielding percentage behind the plate and caught runners stealing at a rate of 44%. The 9-time All-Star caught 1,131 innings this year, a career-high.
