Depleted Sixers set to battle Western Conference-leading Phoenix Suns tonight in South Philadelphia

After having the weekend off, the Sixers are back in action on Monday night, continuing their long homestand by hosting the Phoenix Suns. Devin Booker and company enter this matchup with the top spot in the Western Conference with a record of 7-2.
Currently riding a two-game losing streak, the Sixers find themselves staring in the face of a contender. On top of that, they could be incredibly shorthanded. Per the latest injury report, Joel Embiid (non-Covid illness) and Danuel House (non-Covid illness) are questionable and James Harden (foot) remains out.
For the Suns, Jae Crowder and Cam Johnson are out and Cam Payne is listed as questionable.

De’Anthony Melton ready to step up in James Harden’s absence
The biggest battle for the Sixers in the coming weeks is staying afloat without James Harden. Filling the void left by the former MVP won’t be easy, and will take a collective effort. One of the players likely to see an increase in minutes is De’Anthony Melton. Last week, he talked about his role in helping soften the blow of Harden’s absence.
“Just go out there, play with energy, affect the game on both ends, probably an increase in minutes, but other than that, just continue to play the way I play.“
One positive is that the offseason addition has done well when asked to run with the starters. In the three games he hasn’t come off the bench, Melton is averaging 13.7 PPG, 4.0 RPG, and 5.3 APG.
