“There’s some interesting rumblings that he (Trea Turner) wants to be here (Philadelphia).”
As the Phillies declined the $17M option for Jean Segura in 2023, there’s no doubt that they will be in play for one of the four star shortstops that are on the market this offseason…Trea Turner, Carlos Correa, Xander Bogaerts, and Dansby Swanson.
Trea Turner is one of, if not the best, shortstop in all of baseball. Turner’s hit .307/.353/.490 in two seasons with the Dodgers, crushing 31 HRs and 128 RBIs while also adding on 38 stolen bases. Turner is a 2x All-Star, a World Champion, and has a batting title.

Turner’s all-around game is what fascinates me the most. He’s posted an above-average OPS+ every season since his rookie year, his OPS has sat above .800 since 2018, and he strikes out at just a rate of 18% while collecting a 4.9 WAR in 2022, a career-high. With the addition of Turner, Bryson Stott would move back to 2nd base, where he’s always been his best.
Bryce Harper has talked about Turner on multiple occasions in the past, saying that he’s his “favorite player.” Dave Dombrowski has proved that he is willing to spend money if it makes the team better, and it seems like Turner to Philadelphia is becoming more likely by the day.
