Injury Update: Joel Embiid dealing with shoulder and ankle injuries ahead of tonight’s game against the Utah Jazz

The Philadelphia 76ers dominated the Atlanta Hawks last night at the Wells Fargo Center, winning 121-109 in the first of a five game home stand.
Joel Embiid had a massive night, scoring 42 points to go along with 10 rebounds, six assists, two steals, and two blocks.
After the game, Embiid spoke with the media about his performance and revealed that he’s battling a shoulder injury that apparently limits him from even lifting his arm up some days.
Joel Embiid Shoulder Injury
“I don’t know what happened, but some days, I can’t lift my arm up,” said Embiid. “When I go block shots, I really feel it. I don’t know what’s going on, but it’s whatever.”
Clearly, that didn’t slow Embiid down last night. He was 14-for-25 from the floor and knocked down 13-of-16 free throws from the charity stripe. Embiid was also dealing with an ankle injury last night after falling in the second quarter. The 76ers are back in action on the second night of a back-to-back at home against the Utah Jazz and all things considered, Embiid plans on playing regardless.
I was in attendance last night and right at the opening tip-off, Embiid went up against Clint Cappella and immediately grabbed his shoulder after failing to come down with the ball so it’s clear he’s dealing with some discomfort there. As for the ankle injury, the entire crowd at the Wells Fargo Center was screaming to get Embiid out of the game with the Sixers up 20 on the Hawks, but he continued to play through it.
We’ll see how Embiid feels today but for the love of God, keep the big man healthy at all costs.
