Roster Moves: Eagles sign two-time Pro Bowl DT, place two players on injured reserve and more
The Eagles are adding some much-needed run support to help fill the gap left by Jordan Davis.
Per multiple reports, Philadelphia has signed former two-time Pro Bowl DT Linval Joseph to a one-year deal.
Two-time Pro-Bowl DT Linval Joseph, the former Giants’ second-round pick who also played for the Vikings and Chargers, is planning to sign a one-year deal with the Eagles, per sources. The 34-year-old Joseph will embark upon his 13th NFL season for a team that needs run support.

Joseph, 6’4″, 330 pounds, has spent the previous two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers but has yet to be on an NFL roster in 2022. The former Super Bowl champion is a beefy nose tackle who can control the line of scrimmage, something the defense hasn’t been able to do since losing standout rookie Jordan Davis.
The Eagles have allowed a combined 320 rushing yards in the last two weeks, not an encouraging stat with Jonathan Taylor, Aaron Jones, and Derrick Henry on the horizon.
Other roster moves:
- Placed TE Dallas Goedert and DT Marlon Tuipulotu on IR
- Activated TE Tyree Jackson from the PUP list
- Signed S Marquise Blair to the practice squad
- Opened the 21-day practice window for DE Janarius Robinson
Dallas Goedert was injured early in the 4th quarter when pulled to the ground by his face mask. No flag was thrown on the play. The Eagles will look to Tyree Jackson, along with Jack Stoll and Grant Calcaterra, to help fill the void.
Second-year DT Marlon Tuipulotu unknowingly suffered a knee injury during Monday’s loss to Washington. Head coach Nick Sirianni said Tuipulotu played through the injury and is unsure if it’s season-ending.
Former Seahawks and Panthers safety Marquise Blair is a versatile player who has 50 career tackles and three forced fumbles in 25 career games. Jonathan Gannon could use the backend depth, especially if CJ Gardner-Johnson gets snaps in the slot while Avonte Maddox is out.
Blair was released from Carolina’s practice squad last week.
If Linval Joseph has any juice left, he’ll be a nice rotational piece for the Eagles.
