Ben Simmons on his return to Philadelphia: “I know what’s coming”

After spending literally every day last NBA season writing about Ben Simmons, we haven’t really touched on him much this year here at The Liberty Line.
Honestly, there’s really not much to say about Simmons these days and the entire city of Philadelphia should have moved on by now. However, with the Brooklyn Nets coming to South Philadelphia on Tuesday night, Simmons spoke to the media following last night’s Nets game about his return, which will be the first time he actually plays a real basketball game against his former team.
Simmons was horrible to start the season with the Brooklyn Nets and couldn’t even find consistent playing time. Over the past week, it looks like he’s finally getting back to the player he was in Philadelphia before quitting on the Sixers and taking nearly two years off from playing basketball.
The Nets beat the Memphis Grizzlies last night 127-115 and Simmons had his best game of the season, scoring 22 points while adding eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals. He finished the night four points behind Durant who led the Nets with 26 points on 9-of-16 shooting.
Following the game, Simmons spoke with reporters about his return to Philadelphia on Tuesday night.

The question itself was stupid but whoever got it, obviously got the sound bite he was looking for. Simmons knows very well what’s coming when he returns to Philadelphia on Tuesday and as 76ers fans we should also be prepared for what the national media will say about us once Ben Simmons is met with what should be very loud booing inside the Wells Fargo Center.
Whatever they tell us about how we should “let it go” or “move on” means absolutely nothing. We all know what Simmons did to this city and basketball team and what he put us through for nearly 2 years. He deserves all the hate and all the boos, respectfully of course.
You have to admit that it will be fun to see Embiid face off against Simmons for the first time since he quit on this city. Much like Simmons, Embiid knows exactly what’s coming too.
