It’s a non-surgical injury. Testing is ongoing, so timetable still TBD, but it is not expected to be season-ending.

Gardner-Johnson went down late in the first quarter after tackling WR Christian Watson and had to be carted to the locker room afterward. While the injury doesn’t appear to be season-ending, IR is a likely possibility. For reference, Zach Ertz suffered the same injury late in 2019 and only missed one week, but he didn’t have to deliver hits on defense.
Reed Blankenship replaced Gardner-Johnson in the game, leading the Eagles in tackles (6) and snagging the first INT of his career off Aaron Rodgers. The undrafted rookie figures to see more snaps in the CJGJ’s absence.
Philadelphia acquired Gardner-Johnson just ten days prior to Week 1, hoping he could be their long-term solution at safety. That gamble has paid off so far, with Gardner-Johnson leading the NFL in interceptions (6) through 11 games.
The Eagles currently sit at 10-1 with a two-game lead over Minnesota for the NFC’s top seed.
