Phillies Claim Jake Cave Off Waivers
Cave has played five major league seasons with the Minnesota Twins and was picked up by the Orioles back in October. In his time with the Twins big league club, he hit .235/.297/.411 with 33 HRs and 118 RBIs, with 5 HRs and 20 RBIs coming in 2022.

Jake Cave has played 1,055 innings in CF in the pros, logging a .982 fielding percentage in that time with just five errors. His stats obviously portray him as a defensive-first option, but with a hitting coach like Kevin Long, the Phillies can hopefully look to turn his bat around if they keep him around as a backup off the bench.
With Winter Meetings coming next week, the offseason is heating up. The Phils are looking to acquire a big-name shortstop, some bullpen pieces, and a starting pitcher to slot into the 4/5 hole. With the addition of Cave, the current 40-man roster sits at 38 players.
