USMNT eliminated from the 2022 World Cup in 3-1 loss to the Netherlands
The USMNT has been eliminated from the 2022 World Cup after falling to the Netherlands 3-1 in the Round of 16.
Honestly, there’s really not much to say about the match besides that the USMNT missed way too many opportunities to find the back of the net. Christian Pulisic missed an easy goal at the very start of the match which was followed by multiple other chances to get back into the match against the Netherlands.
Christian Pulisic Nightmare Fuel
The USMNT fell behind 2-0 at the half thanks to goals from Memphis Depay and Daley Blind, both of which came off defensive breakdowns. The Americans managed to pull a goal back in the 76th minute thanks to Christian Pulisic’s corner kick getting recycled and his cross hit Haji Wright on the back of the leg, resulting in a wild bounce that found the back of the net.

The United States has been eliminated in the Round of 16 for the fourth time in five opportunities.
Despite the ugly loss and the fact that we never give out moral victories in America, the USMNT has a lot of positives to take away from the 2022 World Cup. This is a program that had to completely rebuild after failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup. They are very young with an average age of 25 years old and are extremely talented.
17-of-26 players on the USMNT are playing in Europe and five of them are playing in the Champions League this season. Pulisic specifically, was on the Chelsea team that won the Champions League in 2021.
