Phillies Ink Matt Strahm to 2-Year Deal
Matt Strahm, 31, has thrown seven years in the majors, starting his career with the Kansas City Royals. He pitched for the Boston Red Sox in 2022, tallying a 4-4 record with a 3.83 ERA in 50 appearances.
Strahm logged 44.2 total innings out of the bullpen last season for Boston, allowing 38 hits and 19 earned runs in that time. He struck out 52 batters, tallied an ERA+ of 110, and a SO9 ratio of 10.5.
The Phillies now have around $8.5 million left to spend before hitting the second luxury tax. Dave Dombrowski has put his foot on the gas, continuing to fill holes that this team needs to move the needle.
