Joel Embiid drops 48, Sixers fail to extending winning streak to nine games with 116-111 loss to the Wizards

The Philadelphia 76ers snapped an eight game winning streak last night against the Washington Wizards, losing 116-111 in the nation’s capital.
Joel Embiid erupted for 48 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks, and three steals. It was Embiid’s sixth 40-point game of the season. James Harden added 26 points and 13 assists in the losing effort.

Kristaps Porzingis (24) and Bradley Beal (19) led the way for the Washington Wizards. The Sixers definitely had a chance late in the game to pull out their ninth straight win after being down 16 points against the Wizards but things turned a bit chaotic over the last two minutes of the game.
After cutting the Wizards’ lead down to just three points (111-108) with 2:05 left on the clock, this happened:
- Embiid Turnover
- Melton Missed Layup
- Embiid Missed Layup
- Niang Missed Three (Wide Open)
- Embiid Missed Layup
After the game, Joel Embiid spoke to the media and said the following:
“It was all on me,” said Embiid who had a casual 48 points on the night. “I had a bad last two minutes. That is on me.” via USA Today
Look, I understand Embiid missed some shots over the final two minutes of the game but several 76ers players had some very good looks to score some points and none of which, were able to do so. As a team, the Sixers shot a miserable 19.4% from three point range (6-for-31) and the supporting cast behind Embiid and Harden was essentially non-existent.

- Montrezl Harrell: 9 points
- De’Anthony Melton: 6 points
- Georges Niang: 3 points
- Danuel House Jr: 3 points
- Shake Milton: 1 point
Tobias Harris, who told us to tell our friends to tell our friends that he’s a sharpshooter after going 5-of-7 from beyond the arc a few games ago, went 0-for-4 from three last night and at points, was scared to even take the open shot. Now, we have no friends and everyone thinks we’re liars for spreading his lies. Just check our Twitter feed.
Quote tweets galore because Harris cant buy a bucket over the last few games.
I never want to lose another basketball game where Embiid almost scores 50 points and Harden has over 25 points and 12 assists. That literally should never happen. Period.
The Sixers are back in action on Friday night against Zion and the Pelicans. Tyrese Maxey will finally return to the lineup after missing over a month with a small foot fracture.
