Sixers Joel Embiid Wizards Preview

Maxey OUT, Harden and Tucker questionable as the Sixers close out 2022 in Oklahoma City

Tyrese Maxey will miss tonight’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder with “left foot injury management”.

In addition to Maxey, it looks like James Harden (right foot injury management) and PJ Tucker (left knee injury management) could also miss tonight’s game. Harden and Tucker are currently both listed as questionable.

The Sixers are on the second night of a back-to-back so the “management” designations make sense. Last night, CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson combined for 78 points to hand the Sixers their second straight loss on the road, 127-116

Joel Embiid continued to dominate, but the rest of the supporting cast outside of James Harden failed to provide enough help while the Sixers played sloppy defense and turned the ball over 19 times, leading to 30 points for the Pelicans.

JOEL EMBIID: 37 PTS, 8 REB, 5 AST, 1 STL, 1 BLK VS PELICANS

OKC has won three out of their last five games but are coming off a loss against the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday night. Even without Maxey and possibly Harden and Tucker, the Sixers should still be able to win this game.

The Thunder are 15-20 on the year and sit in 12th place in the Western Conference Standings. Needless to say, they aren’t a very good basketball team outside of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who’s averaging just over 30 points per game this season.

Pick: Sixers -3.5

Embiid should continue to dominate and the rest of the Sixers lineup will have to step up like they did earlier in the season when the Sixers went roughly a month without Harden and Maxey playing.

Happy New Year.
