Eagles defense makes NFL history after 7-sack performance vs. Saints

For the first time this season, the Eagles have dropped back-to-back games after losing to the Saints 20-10. It was a mind numbing performance from start to finish for Philadelphia. But hey, at least the defense made some NFL history, so that’s kind of cool.
After Brandon Graham notched his 10th sack of the season in the second quarter, the Eagles became the first team in NFL history to have four separate players with at least 10 sacks in a season.

The Eagles pass rush was the only real positive from Sunday’s game. Jonathan Gannon’s defensive line racked up seven sacks on Andy Dalton and Taysom Hill.
A look at the sack count from Week 17:
- Brandon Graham: 2
- Haason Reddick: 2
- Fletcher Cox: 1
- Javon Hargrave: 1
- Milton Williams: 1
After the seven-sack outing, the Eagles sack total for the year sits at 68, breaking their single-season franchise record of 62 set back in 1989. They’re just five sacks away from breaking the NFL record for most sacks in a season at 72, set by the ’84 Chicago Bears.
From top to bottom, everyone along the defensive line has played a role in the Eagles ferocious pass rush in 2022. Haason Reddick leads the way with an absurd 16 sacks on the year, followed by Josh Sweat, Brandon Graham, and Javon Hargrave, who all have 11 a piece.
Now that the Eagles will actually have something to play for in the season finale against New York, they have a legitimate chance to break the Bears’ sack record. When the two teams met on December 11, Philadelphia racked up seven sacks.
