This news shouldn’t shock anyone. Both of the Eagles coordinators have been rumored to be hot names on the head coaching market this offseason. This is only the first of many expected interviews for Steichen and Gannon.
Rumors surfaced earlier Monday morning suggesting Gannon was an “early favorite” for the Texans job. He interviewed for the position last offseason, only to lose out on it to Lovie Smith.
After winning his final game as the Texans head coach – and losing out on the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft in the process – Smith was fired. Houston is now on their fourth head coaching search since 2020. Hard to believe an organization can be this incompetent.
Along with Steichen and Gannon, 49ers defensive coordinator Demeco Ryans, former QB Josh McCown, and Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson are all expected to interview with Houston in the coming weeks.
