Delaware Blue Coats Mac McClung has accepted an invitation to participate in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest

Delaware Blue Coats guard Mac McClung has officially accepted an invitation to be in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest at All-Star Weekend.
Mac McClung All-Star Slam Dunk Contest
McClung will be the first ever G League Player in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. The 24-year old has been stellar with the Blue Coats this season, averaging 17.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists over seven games so far this season.
McClung went undrafted in 2021 after his junior season at Texas Tech and joined the Los Angeles Lakers for the Summer League, joining the team in August 2021 before getting waived. He then signed with the Lakers’ G League affiliate and did a stint with the Chicago Bulls on two different 10-day contracts before landing back on the South Bay Lakers and being named the G League Rookie of the Year for the 2021-22 season.
Rockets forward KJ Martin and Trail Blazers rookie Shaedon Sharpe have also committed for the All-Star Dunk Contest.
Honestly, while it’s pretty cool to have one of our own in McClung in the dunk contest, where are all of the elite NBA dunkers and why are they not competing in the event? Not sure if it’s a good look having G League players commit to the event while the big fellas remain on the bench.
Regardless, I hope McClung dunks all over anyone who stands in his way.
