Report: Matisse Thybulle drawing interest from the Golden State Warriors

After yesterday’s news that Matisse Thybulle was being “monitored” by the Sacramento Kings ahead of the February 9th NBA Trade Deadline, it’s now being reported that Thybulle is drawing interest from another team out west in the Golden State Warriors.
According to Keith Pompey, Thybulle, who is no longer considered “untouchable” by the Philadelphia 76ers’ organization, has now caught the eye of the Warriors.
Keith Pompey on Warriors’ Interest in Matisse Thybulle
Multiple NBA sources said the Golden State Warriors have had internal discussions about Thybulle and that they do like him as a defensive stopper. The Sacramento Kings are also reportedly monitoring his availability. A league source confirmed the interest, saying Kings coach Mike Brown is a fan of Thybulle, who would add a defensive presence to Sacramento’s starting lineup. The Kings (28-21), who surprisingly sit in third place in the Western Conference, are pondering upgrades for a postseason push after an NBA-record 16 straight seasons without a playoff appearance. The Kings’ and Warriors’ interest makes sense and is something to pay attention to.
Sacramento has an interest in the Sixers’ wing, as the 3-seeded Kings are looking to add a defensive specialist to their depth. Richaun Holmes has been a name that has been brought up as a possible return package for Thybulle due to the Sixers’ need for a backup center.
There’s no report on what exactly the Warriors would offer in return for Matisse Thybulle, which could turn this deal into a potential multi-team trade. The Sixers’ #1 priority is filling the backup role behind MVP frontrunner Joel Embiid, and multiple names have been mentioned as potential targets, including former Sixer Andre Drummond.
The Sixers need to be careful trading Matisse Thybulle. The team has a very impressive record with Thybulle on the floor due to his defensive abilities, and there’s no reason to just dump him for salary reasons.
The team is back in action tonight as they take on the Orlando Magic once again at 7:00 EST.
