Eagles may get their starting punter back in time for Super Bowl LVII

With Super Bowl LVII just over a week away, it looks like the Eagles special teams unit will be getting some reinforcements.
Starting punter Arryn Siposs, who’s been on injured reserve for the better part of the past two months, told NBC Sports Philadelphia that he’s, “feeling good,” and is ready to suit up for the Super Bowl matchup between Philadelphia and Kansas City.
“Ready to go, which is great,” Siposs said. “If the opportunity arises, that would be fantastic. But it’s good to be back out there with the guys and get to do my thing for a couple weeks. And we’ll see how it goes.”
Siposs added that he probably could have gone for the NFC Championship Game against San Francisco, but the team didn’t open his 21-day practice window until this past Wednesday.
“I mean, I’ve always got to anticipate that,” Siposs continued. “If I don’t think that then I’m not doing anything good by me. I’m going out there to prepare to play and that’s all there is to it. Whatever happens, happens. It’s a great opportunity to go out there and be able to do my thing.”
After Siposs sustained his ankle injury in Week 14, the Eagles brought in veteran punter Brett Kern. While the 14-year vet has had his moments, he’s lacked the consistency that Siposs provided. Siposs averaged more punt yards (45.6) and a higher net average (39.5) than Kern. Not to mention, he managed to placed 16 of his punts inside the 20 in 13 games. Kern only had four of his punts land inside the 20 in six games at the Eagles punter.
With an extra week to prepare and get healthy, all signs are pointing towards Siposs suiting up again. The Eagles miraculously had all 22 of their starters active for the NFC chip on Sunday. Now with Siposs set to return, every single one of the Eagles starters should be a go for Super Bowl LVII.
