Zack Wheeler is taking Andrew Painter under his wing on Day 1 of Pitchers and Catchers

Phillies pitchers and catchers officially reported to Clearwater, Florida on Wednesday and the Fightins’ ace Zack Wheeler is already taking top prospect Andrew Painter under his wing.
Zack Wheeler: A True Leader
The Phillies clubhouse lockers are always in numerical order. Zack Wheeler made it a priority that Andrew Painter and Bailey Falter’s lockers are next to either his or Aaron Nola’s, the two veteran arms on the Phillies.
A real class-act move from Zack Wheeler. No matter who you are, making the move from the minors to the pros, especially when you have the pressure that Painter does, is never easy. Wheeler made sure that Painter feels like be belongs in the majors as he gears up to make a push to make the 26-man roster for Opening Day.
Andrew Painter is the Phillies’ #1 prospect, and was most recently ranked as the best pitching prospect in the entire league. You’ll hear his name a lot over the next ten years, but this is the first time we’ve ever seen him throwing with the major league team down in Clearwater.
