Phillies ditch ‘Dancing On My Own’, don’t want to listen to ‘Second Place Songs’ in 2023

The Philadelphia Phillies are down in Clearwater, Florida preparing for the 2023 season and a “Revenge Tour” is definitely on the minds of players as they start Spring Training.
Last season, the Phillies postseason run had a theme song and if you were anywhere in the Tri-State area last Fall, you probably heard it a few times.
Callum Scott’s ‘Dancing on my Own’ was the song that defined the 2022 postseason for the Phillies, but with a new season ahead and new faces in the clubhouse, the Phillies are ready to retire last year’s anthem and hopefully down the line, find a new song to carry them through the 2023 postseason.
“That one took us all the way to the World Series,” Realmuto said. “It’s a yearly thing. New year, new team. We’ve got a lot of new faces. New song. I don’t know who’s in charge of the songs this year. It’s definitely not going to be me, but somehow organically a song will come up.” via MLB.com
“It’s a second-place song,” Kyle Schwarber said. “It’s done.” via MLB.com
“I personally think it’s the 2022 Phillies,” Rhys Hoskins said. “Something will pop up during the year, right? We’ll latch into something.” via MLB.com
“The playlist last year, it just kind of started,” Stubbs said. “It just created as time went on. It wasn’t like Day 1, ‘Dancing On My Own’ was the song. Or the other ones either. We started playing random music afterward, and all of a sudden certain songs stuck more than others. I’m sure there will be other songs that continue to play, but I think the main one will stay in 2022. It’s such an awesome song, and I think it fit really well for that team, too.” via MLB.com
I absolutely love it.
I have long been a supporter of leaving past success (or failures) from Philadelphia sports teams in the past. It happened already and it’s time to look ahead to win it all the next season.
Ditch the old songs and let’s get something new for 2023.
Time to lock in. The Philadelphia Phillies 2023 Revenge Tour is in full effect.
