Larry Bowa: “Erase the date” on Bryce Harper’s return

Phillies legendary shortstop Larry Bowa, who now serves as the senior advisor to the general manager, dropped a pretty interesting update on Bryce Harper’s injury this morning on SportsRadio 94 WIP.
Larry Bowa: “You can erase that date on Harper’s return”
Larry Bowa does say that this isn’t an official report but just what he’s seeing with his own eyes. The timetable for Harper has never really had a set date on it; the assumption and reports have always just set his return to be around the All-Star break.
DeCamara and Ritchie mentioned early June, and Bowa said, “we’ll see.”
UPDATE: Dave Dombrowski just joined the WIP Morning Show and said that Bryce Harper will not go on the 60-day IL. That means there is a possibility he will come back before May 29th.
“We’re going to keep our options open” – Dave Dombrowski
Bryce Harper is progressing very well and has started to take light swings off the tee. Tommy John recovery is a tedious process, and the Phillies want to make sure everything is done to perfection to get the star outfielder back on the field as soon as possible.

In the meantime, the Phillies are going to be just fine, especially if Trea Turner swings the bat like he is in the World Baseball Classic right now. The Phils shortstop has three homers in his last two games, including a game-winning grand slam.
Team USA will take on Team Japan tonight at 7:00 EST after a legendary walk-off from Japan on Monday night. If you’re not watching every minute of the World Baseball Classic, you need to start. International baseball is ELECTRIC.
