The Phillies originally opened up at 86.5 following their Game 6 loss to the Houston Astros in the World Series. With the additions of Trea Turner, Taijuan Walker, and more, their win total has jumped up two wins to 88.5.
The Phils won 87 games after once being nine games under .500 in 2022. A full season of Rob Thomson is going to benefit the Fightins a ton. I’ve been saying that the Phillies are going to win 95 games all off-season, which doesn’t seem that far out of reach.
Trea Turner is a winning baseball player. He’s proved it every year in the majors, and he just proved it even more in the World Baseball Classic, setting a Team USA record with five home runs in the tournament. This Phillies roster is the best all-around team I’ve been alive for (on paper), which leads me to believe that they’ll win 95 games.

I don’t think this one needs much of an explanation. Missing the playoffs this season would be one of the biggest letdowns in Philly sports over the last century.
The Phils have a better chance to win the World Series than they do to miss the playoffs. Everyone knows it.
NL East Odds
This is where things get interesting. The Phillies play in the best division in all of baseball, with two gauntlet regular season teams in the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves, along with the Miami Marlins, who aren’t a good team but got better this offseason.
Edwin Diaz was ruled out for the entire 2023 season a few days ago with an unfortunate knee injury while celebrating a win in the World Baseball Classic. The sportsbooks know that, as the Mets were the original favorite to win the East coming into the new season.
The Braves are a good team, there’s no way around it. They’re pitching will be elite once again in 2023, along with a star-studded lineup headlined by Ronald Acuna Jr.
I really like the Phillies to win the East this year. I think they’re a better team than the Braves when fully healthy. No team in this league beats a Top 4 of Turner, Schwarber, Bryce, and JT. Take the Fightins at +340.

To Win the National League
Why are the Braves the favorite to win the National League? I don’t really know. They’re currently tied with the Dodgers at +380, with the Padres and Mets tied behind them at +500. The Phillies are next in line, currently sitting at +750, which is fantastic value for a team that just did this a year ago.
The Phillies have absolutely no reason to be worse than they were in 2022.

World Series Odds
The Houston Astros come in at a +600 favorite, which isn’t shocking. They’ve turned into a dynasty over the last five years and somehow just keep getting better; however, they are now without Jose Altuve for the first eight weeks of the season after going down with a hand injury in the WBC.
The Fightins currently sit at +1500 after coming just two games shy. They’re a much better team this season, and they’ve got the potential to run the league this year.
