Phillies send nine players to the minors, finalize Opening Day roster decisions

The Philadelphia Phillies have reassigned five players to minor-league camp while optioning four additional players to Lehigh Valley, all but finalizing their Opening Day roster for the 2023 season.

Optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley

The three biggest names on this list are Scott Kingery, Michael Plassmeyer, and Kody Clemens. Clemens and Kingery were fighting for the last bench spot all throughout camp, while Plassmeyer was going for that fifth starter role in replace of Andrew Painter.
These roster moves all but finalizes the Phillies’ Opening Day roster. Yunior Marte and Andrew Vasquez seem to be getting the last two bullpen spots, while Matt Strahm will start the season as the 5th starter behind Bailey Falter.

The Phillies have not *officially* finalized this roster yet, but this is all but confirmed with the moves made this morning.
