Roster Moves: Phillies option Yunior Marte, select contract of right-handed pitcher and DFA Top 20 prospect

Ahead of tonight’s matchup with the New York Yankees, the Phillies have optioned Yunior Marte to Triple-A Lehigh Valley while selecting the contract of RHP McKinley Moore.
Phillies Option Yunior Marte to Triple-A
To make room on the 40-man roster, 18th-ranked Phillies prospect Jhailyn Ortiz has been designated for assignment.
Yunior Marte showed promise during Spring Training, turning heads and pumping gas by batters, but he crumbled once the regular season started. He’s tallied a 54.00 ERA in just one total inning, allowing five hits and six earned runs in two appearances.
McKinley Moore tallied a 4.35 ERA in Double-A Reading last year, allowing 50 hits in 49 innings pitched out of the bullpen. The Phillies have been burning through bullpen guys throughout their first four games, so a move for another reliever was expected, with a bullpen game happening tonight, once Strahm exits. Moore will most likely make his major league debut tonight.
As for Jhailyn Ortiz, it’s another Phils’ prospect that just failed to get to the big leagues. His bat has been fine throughout the minors, but he hasn’t shown any major improvement that draws the eye of the major league scouts. If nobody claims Ortiz off of waivers, he’ll return to AA.
