WATCH: Eagles WR DeVonta Smith says he’s a Top-10 wideout in the NFL

It’s easy to overlook Eagles WR DeVonta Smith simply because he plays alongside AJ Brown. But make not mistake about it, the Eagles have two No. 1 wideouts on their roster.

On a recent episode of the “I AM ATHLETE” podcast, Smith joined the crew to chop it up ahead of the 2023 NFL season. When asked if he believes he’s a top-10 wide receiver right now, Smith didn’t hesitate.

Smith hauled in 95 receptions for 1,196 yards and seven touchdowns during the 2022 season. Like Brandon Marshall points out in the clip above, Smith did all of that while AJ Brown was on the other side having the best statistical season of his career.

When the team traded up for Smith in the 2021 NFL Draft, they didn’t do so to get a WR2 or a complimentary piece for their offense. They did it to secure a No. 1 wideout, and that’s exactly what they’ve gotten.

He’s already etched his name into the Eagles’ record books. As a rookie, he set the franchise rookie record for receiving yards with 916. In his sophomore campaign, he became the youngest Eagles wideout to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark and set the single-season receptions record for an Eagles WR with 95.

Not to mention, he’s only 24 years old.

The longer he plays with Jalen Hurts and opposite of AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith will only get better. In a few years, we may be talking about Smith as a top-5 guy; top-10 might even be disrespectful in a few years’ time.
