The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Detroit Tigers last night 1-0 to earn their fourth straight win. 

Backed by a strong outing from Taijuan Walker and yet another June home run for Kyle Schwarber, the Phillies managed to blank the Tigers and improve to just three games under the .500 mark at 29-32 on the season. 

Last night was a bounce-back performance from Walker, who allowed just two hits in seven scoreless innings. Seranthony Dominguez and Craig Kimbrel both pitched a scoreless inning in relief, while the only run scored was courtesy of Kyle Schwarber’s lead off home run to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead. 

Heat Check: While his batting average certainly won’t turn any heads, Kyle Schwarber now has six hits, three home runs and 7 RBI with five walks over his last 7 games. 

While Schwarber continues to heat up, the rest of the Phillies offense was extra quiet last night after five straight games of destroying baseballs. Castellanos, Harper, Turner, and Realmuto combined to go 0-12 at the plate with five strikeouts.

Still, a win is a win, and the Phillies are continue to trend in the right direction. Plus, we got a funny yet bizarre interaction last night between Miguel Cabrera and Bryson Stott.

One thing that did happen last night, was future First Ballot Hall of Famer and Bryson Stott messing around at second base. In the bottom of the third inning, Cabrera advanced to second base on a wild pitch and was met by Bryson Stott. In an incident caught on video, Cabrera tapped Bryson Stott below the waste line which Stott laughed at, tapping Cabrera’s ass in return. 

While the always reliable internet immediately clipped the video and wrote the interaction off as “guys being dudes” the video continued with Cabrera doing a “double take” and reacting to whatever he felt below Bryson Stott’s belt.

Yes, we’re making a dick joke everyone. Cabrera was too. Keep up.

I posted the interaction on TikTok following the incident and it immediately blew up. It would have gone even crazier if TikTok didn’t initially flag the video as “content that was sexual in nature” which I understand, given the preview text and the fact that the comment section was repeatedly commenting that Bryson Stott has a HOG in his pants.

Cabrera will retire from Major League Baseball following the 2023 season and will go down as one of the best hitters in the history of the game. He will be a first ballot Hall of Famer. He has over 3,000 hits, 500 home runs, 1,800 RBI and 600 doubles, which only two players ever have reached all of those milestones in Hank Aaron and Albert Pujols. 

I am all for the 40-year old getting up close and personal with our guy Bryson Stott. Dude is an absolute legend and whatever he wants to “rub off” onto Stott, you just have to sit back and let it happen. Within reason, of course. 

The Phillies are back in action at. 6:05PM today with Zack Wheeler on the mound looking to complete the three game sweep of the Detroit Tigers. They will have a day off on Thursday before welcoming the Los Angeles Dodgers to South Philadelphia on Friday.
