Review: Architectural renderings of 76 Place, released by the Sixers

The Philadelphia 76ers released new stadium renderings of 76 Place, the new arena they are hoping to build right outside Chinatown.

The proposed renderings look pretty sweet. I’m not going to get into the details about whether or not the Sixers should build their own arena in the city because frankly, I really don’t care about things that won’t happen for another 8+ years.

I can barely figure out what I’m doing in five minutes from now let alone about where the Sixers want to move. Having that much time on your hands to plan about the future is a dangerous move, even more so when it’s in regards to a basketball team that has brought nothing but pain and misery to my life over the past two decades.

Anyways, we can get into that in another post.

Looks pretty freaking cool to me. I’m a huge fan of the circular jumbotron instead of one gigantic one in the middle. Based on the concepts, it really opens the place up and provides one hell of a viewing experience.

I know this is a controversial opinion, but my favorite part is restarting the hanging of the banners in a new arena with no obligations outside of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Goodbye Philadelphia Wings banners. You will not be missed.

Outside of that, I would suggest that the people behind the renderings use better graphics to help plead their case. Using James Harden’s stats of how horrible he was in the fourth quarter. Not really a rally cry for the Sixers and their continued struggles in the playoffs.

Yes I know someone photoshopped the James Harden stats on there I’m not an idiot. lol.

There was however, James Harden imagery in the outside renderings as well. At the very least, they should have gone with Tyrese Maxey, right? James Harden himself isn’t even sure if he wants to return to Philadelphia next season. Work with us, 76 Place. Not against us.
