Phoenix Suns targeting James Harden after waiving Chris Paul?

The Phoenix Suns surprised a lot of people when they waived Chris Paul earlier this week.
Honestly, this makes sense. The Phoenix Suns wouldn’t waive Chris Paul if they didn’t have another target in mind to replace him at point guard.
Ramona Shelburne echoed the same statement on the Mason & Ireland ESPN Radio Show:
“[The Phoenix Suns don’t waive Chris Paul] unless they feel pretty good about somebody else. And I want you to keep your eye on James Harden. I don’t want to report anything, but that was in the wind for the past month or so. Everybody thinks it’s like Philly or Houston but I don’t know, there has been discussions in the wind.”
Last month, SiriusXM host Brian Geltzeiler reported that James Harden, in addition to the Houston Rockets, had another Western Conference team on his radar. That team was, in fact, the Phoenix Suns.

Obviously, the Suns would be an interesting piece entering the fold to land Harden after Shams reported yesterday that Harden was “torn” between remaining in Philadelphia or heading to Houston.
Harden is coming off a productive 2022-23 season where he led the league in assists (10.7) while contributing to Joel Embiid’s MVP campaign. The Sixers fizzled out in the second round for the fifth time in six seasons, however, leaving the future of the current roster uncertain.
James Harden is now the first player in NBA history with 3 scoring titles AND 2 assist titles, per @NBA
