Just one Phillies player cracks top three in Phase-1 positional voting for MLB All-Star Game

The MLB All-Star Game in Seattle, Washington, takes place on July 11th, 2023, and we got our first look at the voting results today for both the American and National League.
Phase 1 of voting ends on June 22nd at noon. Although the Phillies haven’t had the greatest start to their season, the votes in favor of our hometown players have been extremely lopsided so far.

Here’s how the entire voting process works, courtesy of MLB.com.
“Your votes will help decide who will start the 2023 MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard. The leading vote-getter in each league will receive an automatic spot in their team’s starting lineup.
Beyond those two players, the top two vote-getters at every position, and the top six outfielders, will advance to Phase 2 of the voting, which begins June 26. If an outfielder is a league’s leading vote-getter, only the next four outfield finalists will move on to Phase 2 to determine who starts at the two remaining spots.“
Nick Castellanos deserves to be an All-Star
Phillies OF Nick Castellanos has had a complete 180 since his first season with the Phillies.
The RF is slashing .312/.358/.498 in 253 ABs with 8 homers, 38 RBIs, 79 hits, 21 doubles, and an OPS of .856. Castellanos looks like a completely different player compared to last year, and his stats amongst the entire Phillies roster prove it.
I get it, the All-Star Game is very-much a popularity contest. But there is absolutely no reason for Michael Harris II, who is currently hitting .190 with 3 HRs and 11 RBIs for the Braves, should be ahead Nick Castellanos.
The Phillies will have to send at least one player to the All-Star Game, and Bryce Harper seems like a lock to lock down that first spot as he currently ranks second among all National League DHs in votes, trailing the Dodgers’ JD Martinez.
Rob Thomson will be the manager for Team National League this year after winning the NL Pennant in 2022, so hopefully, he can pull some strings to get Casty into the mid-summer classic.

Could Trea Turner slide his way into the ASG?
It’s honestly hilarious to sit here and say Trea Turner has a shot to be an All-Star after his abysmal start to the 2023 season, but it really is possible.
Turner currently ranks sixth among all NL shortstops, trailing Orlando Arcia, Francisco Lindor, Xander Bogaerts, Matt McLain, and Dansby Swanson. Turner trails Bogaerts, who is in third place, by just 50,000 votes.
It was an ugly first two months for Turner, but the speedy shortstop has really started to turn it around in the month. of June.
Trea Turner in June: .317 BA / .349 OBP / .537 SLG | 3 2B / 2 HR / 5 RBI / 2 SB
Trea Turner during 5-1 Phillies Homestand: 10-for-24 (.417 BA) with a 1.148 OPS
The Phillies kicked off a crucial 4-game west-coast trip with the Arizona Diamondbacks last night, losing an extremely eventful game 9-8 in the last inning.
