“Further preseason broadcast information will be announced later this summer.”
It’s 2023, the NHL has a $1 billion total television deal, two successful expansion franchises in the last five years, and I still can’t watch every preseason game on television.
The Flyers are owned by a cable company for crying out loud, and the preseason has been this way since I was a kid. Can we please start broadcasting all the games, even if it’s not the most exciting matchup?
By the time the summer is over, I’m content with watching a split-squad preseason game. It’s better than nothing.
The 2023-24 Philadelphia Flyers aren’t likely to be a decent team, but the interest is returning, and the direction is being committed to. It should be much better to follow a team that’s climbing uphill than trending downward, and the preseason marks the beginning of it all for this regime.
