Victor Wembanyama First Pitch

WATCH: Victor Wembanyama throws out first pitch at Yankee Stadium, as picture of him holding a baseball goes viral

A photo of Victor Wembanyama holding a baseball and his first pitch ahead of yesterday’s game between the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners has gone viral on the internet.

The 7+ foot center is expected to be the first pick in the 2023 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday in New York City, so he was out at Yankee Stadium  under the bright lights getting some media attention leading into tomorrow night.

Wearing jersey No. 5, Wembanyama stepped to the mound and threw a pitch from the rubber with the baseball tailing off left of home plate.

Not exactly the best first pitch, but definitely not the worst we’ve seen over the years.

Plus, what did you expect from Wembanyama after he posted a picture of his massive hand holding a baseball. There’s no way he could actually throw a successful first pitch, right?

Note: After further consideration, that’s basically like a regular person holding a racquet ball (golf ball?) so maybe it should have been slightly better.

As for our basketball team, the Philadelphia 76ers don’t have a first round draft pick in 2023 thanks to the Ben Simmons trade that brought James Harden to Philly. Brooklyn didn’t take the Sixers’ first-round selection in 2022, so it was deferred to tomorrow night’s 2023 NBA Draft.
